How Modsy Works Our Online Interior Design Process
How does Modsy work? We’re glad you asked. We’re the only online interior design service that combines the expertise and personalization you get from working with a real designer with the power of virtual room design. The result? You can see interior design ideas in your exact room, collaborate online with your designer, and shop your entire look (including all furniture and decor) in one easy checkout.
Step-by-step interior design
1. Show Us Your Room
Getting started is easy! All you need to do is take 2 quick measurements and 8 photos of your room (phone cameras are perfectly welcome). Don’t worry about clearing out the clutter, we’ll take care of that virtually. Then we’ll get to work and turn your photos into an exact, to-scale 3D version of your room.
2. Help Us Get to Know You
Interior design is personal so we want to get to know you, your space, and anyone else (kiddos, pets, partners) who lives there. Take our style quiz and tell us more details about your room, budget, and lifestyle. Once we have all your info, our designers will get to work creating designs you’ll love.
3. Get Your First Designs
Let the fun begin! We’ll start by sending you two initial designs in an interactive, 3D version of your exact room. You’ll see different room layouts, furniture, and decor ideas for your space.
We even include a bird’s eye and 360 degree view of your designs so you can see them from every angle.
4. Work With Our Designers to Make Changes
Your first designs are just the starting point. From there, you can continue to work with your Modsy designer to try new layouts or furniture styles until you’re 100% happy.
If you’d prefer to explore on your own, you can use our one-of-a-kind swap feature to see new pieces in your room in just a few seconds.
5. Shop Your Designs With Confidence
Once you land on a design you love, shop your whole look (or just the parts you love) in one easy checkout. We offer exclusive discounts too, so you’ll always get the best deal on top of already-best prices.
Our dedicated order management team will coordinate all your purchases and any returns or exchanges. We’ll keep you up-to-date on the status of all your items so all you have to do is get excited for your new room!
A Few of Our FAQs
If you’re not happy, we’re not happy. We want all of our customers to find a design they love, which is why all of our design packages come with unlimited revisions. AKA we’ll work with you to make changes and fine-tune your designs until they’re perfect, or your money back.
We know designing within your budget is important. After you sign up, your designer will ask you some questions to better understand how much and where you want to spend your budget. They’ll take that information into account when designing your room, so your designs will show you furniture and decor in the price ranges you’ve indicated.
On top of that, as a Modsy customer, you’ll get access to exclusive discounts only available here. That means you can save $100s on top of retailers’ best prices.
We know you’re busy. So, we simplified the online interior design process so you can design a room you love in a matter of days. Once your photos and measurements are submitted and approved, we’ll send your initial designs within 1-2 weeks, depending on the design package you select.
Part of the magic of Modsy is that you can see exactly how furniture and decor will look and fit together in your room.
You'll have the option after your package purchase, during project onboarding, to choose if you'd like to have existing items incorporated into your design. At no cost to you, Modsy can find similar alternatives to your piece(s) from our curated catalog. Alternatively, if you'd like to see an exact piece in your space, we can build a 3D model of any item you would like to incorporate into your designs at a cost of $15/item.
Yes, we can include pieces you already own in your Modsy designs. When you sign up, you’ll have the opportunity to tell us if there are any pieces you’d like to keep in your space. Your designer will ask either for a few photos and measurements or a link to the product so they can include it in your designs.
