Balance Out Heavy Furniture

This living room features several pieces of “heavy” furniture. But the lighter finish on most of the pieces balances out the frames, so the room itself doesn’t feel weighed down or over-full. Hanging the curtains a few inches above the top of the window frame also helps draw the eye up rather than focusing on the heavy bases of the furniture, resulting in a room that actually feels quite light and serene.
