Overview

Originally settled in what is Tuscany today, the Etruscans were one of the most important civilizations in ancient Italy. The name Etrusci was given to the civilization by the Romans, and it was from this name that Tuscany's name eventually derived. Ancient Etruscan glass bottles with a finish known as scavo (rough in texture due to being buried beneath the surface of the earth) were dug up around Volterra Italy near an ancient Etruscan civilization dating back to 800 BD and pre-dating the Roman and Egyptian Empires. The small glass bottles and vessels were primarily used to keep precious ceremonial oils. Using these bottles as influence, our ceramic collection have been scaled for today's interiors and given a beautiful gold crackle glaze, only available from our research in Italy.
