"Verdant II" by Ksenia Sizaya evokes the vibrant activity of a hot summer's day in the city. The artist creates a high-contrast rendering in acrylic and gesso of "someone's colorful sundress, tropical leaves from a potted plant, even the glare from a white fence" to create "an abstract summer collage." KSENIA SIZAYA. Montreal-based artist who was trained in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed her master's degree in graphic art. Sizaya says her art is influenced by abstract expressionism and modernism. "I've always been a creative person, even as a small child. Design and art have always been a major part of my life."
