With intuition as her guide, Heather Patterson selects from a vast array of collected wood scraps to compose each of her compositions. She pieces together slats, cubes and cross-sections of discarded wood into the confines of an abandoned window frame to create a unique arrangement of found objects. Patterson's works have the look of abstract paintings but are rich in dimension, texture and natural color, assembling pieces of wood textured with nail holes or knots, altered by paint or char or marked by stencils or measurements.
